Very nice tintype image with some chips on it. The name appears to be written in pencil, but has left some indent in the brass. I tried to get a picture but to read you need to tilt image side to side and have the light/shadows help to identify letters, only 2 or 3 characters can be made out at once.
With Research I determined this to be Andrew Gilford Bow born 1845 in Brunswick, Maine. Andrew is listed as Mulatto on most records and Black on a few. He was a carpenter by trade and his father was a farmer. I've included a picture of him as an older man, found on Ancestry for comparison. The item "Civil War Soldier 1/6th size ID'd as Gilford Bow with partial Tax Stamp" is in sale since Saturday, April 24, 2021.This item is in the category "Collectibles\Photographic Images\Vintage & Antique (Pre-1940)\Tintypes".awwrmuxpx" and is located in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
